Head of Digital and Communications

We have a wonderful opportunity for an exceptional communications professional.

Due to increasing need for our client’s critical support services for carers, our client, VOCAL (Voice of Carers Across Lothian), is looking for an exceptional individual to join its senior management team and provide strategic and operational leadership in the areas of digital transformation and communications.

This is a newly developed role, giving you the key responsibility of leading on the development and operational management of VOCAL’s digital presence with the aim of enhancing their profile and raising awareness of their services to carers in Edinburgh and Midlothian. You will take a multi-faceted approach across websites, social media platforms, video resources and interactive media/apps, actively promoting and marketing VOCAL’s work and instigating and managing press and media relationships and campaigns.

VOCAL has been delivering their services for over 25 years but given the impact of COVID19 there has never been a more important time for a highly motivated and solution-focused individual, possibly someone who may be looking for the next step up in their career, to give a clear, direct voice to support the aims of this dynamic carer-led organisation.

Story of VOCAL

VOCAL is the Voice of Carers Across Lothian – an organisation run by carers for carers since 1994.

VOCAL’s carer support teams work with unpaid carers to help identify the issues affecting them, and achieve the best possible outcome for carers.

VOCAL delivers support through two carer centres in Edinburgh and Midlothian, and through staff based in the community. VOCAL works individually with carers to identify a plan of support which can include work with other agencies, referral to benefit, legal or power of attorney surgeries and access to a range of training and lifestyle management opportunities.

About You!

This is a strategic role, where you will be part of the SMT tasked with enhancing the profile of Vocal across Edinburgh and Midlothian.

We are seeking to attract candidates with a demonstrable track record of successfully developing and implementing innovative communication strategies, projects and campaigns, and managing websites and online platforms/systems.

You will have experience of line management and coaching teams, managing cross sector partnerships including a mix of contractual and informal relationships and initiating and managing relationships with press/media, leading successful media campaigns.

The successful candidate will have strong IT and digital skillset: Office 365 suite including SharePoint and MS Teams, data visualisation and analytics, HTML/Wordpress (or similar content management systems), email marketing, Adobe creative suite and video editing software.
