Job purpose

To work with the Head of Fundraising Scotland to develop and deliver a robust fundraising plan for the locality which will grow existing income and fundraising volunteer numbers, identify new fundraising activities, and manage relationships with volunteers and supporters. To provide effective management to fundraising and volunteering staff within the local Community Fundraising Team and work across teams to generate and grow income.

  • To have accountability and responsibility for the budgetary performance of community fundraising activity in Scotland.
  • To take a lead role in supporting, developing and managing relationships with potential new and existing NSPCC Scotland supporters and volunteers.
  • To take a lead role in working effectively with other local NSPCC teams and departments within the Income Generation Directorate and other functions to maximise the recruitment of volunteer fundraisers to deliver income for children.
  • To lead, manage and develop local fundraising staff in line with our values and behaviours.
  • Line management of 2 x home-based community fundraisers in Scotland.

To succeed in this role you will have:

  1. Highly developed leadership, line management and team building skills, preferably in a community fundraising environment but equivalent experience in the areas of sales, marketing or relationship management is relevant.
  2. Track record of leading fundraising activity in staff or volunteers in Scotland.
  3. Working well with others as part of a team, giving support, and recognising expertise in others. Excellent ability to successfully motivate others to achieve desired outcomes.
  4. Excellent written communication skills to analyse interpret and present proposals, reports and strategic plans in a clear and persuasive way for a wide range of audiences.
  5. Ability to verbally present information, to a range of audiences in a clear, inspiring and confident way to achieve desired outcomes.
  6. A natural relationship manager with a highly developed ability to establish, develop and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  7. Ability to manage a supporter care environment, ideally in a fundraising environment, and a strong commitment to high standards of service delivery and customer care.
  8. Proven business development ability to identify opportunities and to research and evaluate their viability in order to achieve desired outcomes.
  9. Experience of creating accurate budgets keeping within financial limits, monitoring and forecasting income and expenditure, identifying possible shortfalls or overspends and taking timely and appropriate action.
  10. Demonstrable knowledge of the fundraising environment in Scotland to be able maximise opportunities for the NSPCC.
  11. Driving licence and access to a car when the use of public transport is not viable.
