VOCAL – Voice of Carers Across Lothian is seeking an experienced and dynamic Carer Services Manager to join its busy Edinburgh team providing support to carers.  The postholder will work to ensure the smooth delivery of quality carer support, consolidating and developing systems, structures, and practice.

You will manage a team of Senior Practitioners with responsibility for a range of carer services and supports, training and events, and VOCAL’s Wee Breaks service – all to achieve positive outcomes for carers.

VOCAL is the Voice of Carers Across Lothian – an organisation run by carers for carers since 1994.

VOCAL’s carer support teams work with unpaid carers to help identify the issues affecting them and achieve the best possible outcome for carers.

VOCAL delivers support through two carer centres in Edinburgh and Midlothian, and through staff based in the community. VOCAL works individually with carers to identify a plan of support which can include work with other agencies, referral to benefit, legal or power of attorney surgeries, and access to a range of training and lifestyle management opportunities.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Excellent knowledge of health and social care provision in Scotland, including key legislation and policy affecting carers. This will include working knowledge of supports available to support carers, as underpinned by the Carer (Scotland) Act 2016.

Outstanding people, leadership, and communication skills, with experience in staff management, service development, and person-centred support work.

An understanding of diverse caring situations, the impact of caring on peoples’ lives and barriers carers face at different points of the caring journey.

Digitally competence and effective communication skills with individuals, carer groups, and partner agencies.
