The Opportunity: Community Fundraiser
We are seeking a pro-active and highly motivated individual with excellent networking and influencing skills to join Marie Curie-Scotland. You do not need to come from a fundraising background, so this is an ideal opportunity to join a much-loved charity and help them make a difference in the local community.
Marie Curie staff has been on the front line, day and night, seven days a week, throughout the pandemic. Their services help people to stay out of hospital, relieving pressure on the system and providing vital care. But this crisis has given them a glimpse of the future, too.
A future where the number of people in the UK aged eighty-five or older will double in the next 25 years. Where our ageing population will mean that confronting dying, death and bereavement is a part of life for many more of us. They cannot meet this huge challenge without support, and you can play a key role in meeting this challenge.
This is an ideal job for someone who loves building relationships, both within the workplace and the wider community. You will develop fundraising relationships in the community, by providing excellent stewardship and support to the charity’s Fundraising Groups, volunteers, and supporters, to increase income and deliver the agreed Community Fundraising strategy.
You will have:
- The ability to provide great stewardship to supporters.
- Understanding of volunteer needs and motivations and how to help help them succeed in their volunteer goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, able to build good working relationships.
- Knowledge of how to use social media.
- The ability to prioritise, plan and organise your own workload.
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office and databases.
- The ability to work to targets, plans, and budgets.
- Good communication and presentation skills.
- Driving licence and car.
