You will work closely with the Director of Communications, Admissions and Development and the Headmaster. You will also line-manage a Development Officer and liaise closely with The Brentwood School Foundation Board and the Society of Old Brentwoods.

This is an ideal time to be joining the School, as you will play a pivotal role in heading up the new Foundation venture in addition to leading the fundraising and development aspects of the role. 2022 marks the 400th year of the signing of the School’s statutes which established its values – Virtue, Learning and Manners. The Foundation already supports two Sixth Form pupils on full bursaries and early work has begun to set up an umbrella association (The Brentwood School Association). The Association will incorporate a wide community of people associated with the School in a variety of ways, whether they be current or former pupils, parents, staff, or
members of the local community.

Your focus will be to build relationships with potential donors to the Foundation, with a view to establishing regular giving and legacy fundraising for bursaries for future pupils who will be given the opportunity of a life-changing Brentwood education. There is an ambitious stretching target to fund 10 students fully by 2030.

Founded in 1557 and with a long history of innovative teaching and first-class education, today Brentwood School is one of the UK’s leading fully co-educational, day and boarding schools for over 1,900 pupils aged 3 to 19.

In 1851, the School was reconstituted by an Act of Parliament and in 1977 became independent following the end of the Direct Grant status. For much of its history, the School was principally a boys’ boarding School; however, girls were first accepted into the Sixth Form during the 1970s and the first class of girls joined at the age of 11 in 1988.

Excellent academic achievement and an unparalleled co-curricular opportunity, supported by the highest standards of pastoral care, set the School apart from its peers in providing a truly rounded education. The School, comprising Brentwood School and Brentwood Preparatory School, is the envy of many schools in the country, boasting numerous state-of-the-art facilities and set in a 75-acre campus, an extraordinary space given its situation in the heart of the town of Brentwood, Essex.

Brentwood is a thriving, happy and successful HMC School where staff and pupils work together to produce an outstanding quality of education

It is situated 20 miles north-east of London so very much within the London commuter belt.

We have a wonderful opportunity to join a school with an ambitious future vision.

You will be an enthusiastic and committed individual with proven success in raising funds in a similar fundraising or development environment. Experience in working on campaigns and in major gift fundraising would be a distinct advantage.
