Our Client, Bury Grammar School is a forward-thinking, vibrant, and modern family of schools. Founded in 1570, it is an independent day school for pupils aged 3 to 18 years from all backgrounds. The Founders’ ethos was to create a school where children from all backgrounds would thrive, and that is still true today. It is a leading academic school with a big heart and having celebrated its 450th anniversary last year it is looking to the future with confidence, openness, and optimism.
The School has in place a small, established and highly successful Development Team. Due to the retirement of the current Head of Development we are seeking to appoint a new individual to this role; someone with drive and energy who can continue to develop and progress the outstanding work carried out by the Development Team over the past few years.
This is the perfect moment to join and lead the Bury Grammar School Development Team as it embarks on a new and exciting next stage of its development.
Our client are looking to appoint an experienced and charismatic manager who has a solid fundraising track record, to build on the excellent work done by the current incumbent of the role and her team who will cultivate, maintain, and lead high-quality relationships with donors including HNW individuals, Trusts and Corporates and who will further develop an effective and engaging alumni programme.
You will be an innovative leader with a good understanding of marketing techniques in order to reach out and engage with specific targeted audiences using social media and other forms. The Development Department has just completed the data transfer from Raisers Edge to a new ToucanTech CRM database and although you will receive full training on this new system you will be expected to have had previous CRM system experience.
Events play a major part in the school’s annual fundraising calendar, therefore the successful candidate will be expected to have experience devising and successfully running multiple major events throughout the year in order to raise awareness of the schools activities.
The new Head of Development will also be expected to work with colleagues across the school in order to instil a culture of philanthropy within the School and wider BGS community.
The ideal candidate will have had previous experience of working in a fundraising or marketing managerial capacity within a large independent school, university or charity, will be educated, preferably, to degree standard and be a member of the IDPE or CIoF.
