Your role, will be to lead and drive the fundraising function to help the Yard continue its amazing services.  You will support the Director of Development to focus on the strategic development and growth of the organisation and help diversify the fundraising portfolio.  You will lead and inspire a small team focused on driving forward the income generation from all fundraising sources.   Working as a small team you will lead on building key relationships with existing funders and deliver on high standards of stewardship to ensure continued support.

In addition, you will lead on approaches to new funding sources in the areas of Trusts, Foundations, Lottery, and Statutory income streams to ensure that the charity secures new funds to sustain and grow our service.

The Yard is growing, as they expand their services in Dundee and potentially in Glasgow, so it is a great time to join a wonderful charity and help us support more disabled children and young people and their families across Scotland.

Running for 35 years, The Yard is an award-winning charity that aims to build a community of support for disabled children and young people through adventure play and in doing so creates opportunities for fun and friendship and wrap around support for the whole family.

Coming to The Yard provides a great sense of belonging – children have fun and parents have a space free from judgement, where everyone they meet comes from a place of kindness and understanding. One real strength of their service is that they work with disabled children from birth to twenty-five, so families are on one journey.  Having that consistency of support is invaluable to families.

Parents often refer to The Yard as a home from home, as for many it is one of the only places where they can relax as a family and just be themselves. As a result, families feel less isolated as they have a chance to meet others facing similar challenges and build up crucial support networks. One parent summed up the difference the service made to their family: “I love The Yard because the smile it puts on my son’s face is priceless. It’s helped him grow as a person, become more open to allowing others into his space, and makes him feel safe and accepted. The staff and volunteers are amazing with all the children.”

You will have

  • A minimum of four years’ experience in fundraising across a number of income streams.
  • Extensive experience of fundraising from major funders and influencers including Trusts, Lottery and Statutory sources.
  • Experience of setting and managing budgets in particular reporting on performance to senior colleagues.
  • Ability to develop relationships at all levels and evidence of high standards of supporter stewardship.
  • Great communicator, storyteller, and writer.
